I'm sure applying for credit cards and a full bank account requires a higher score than a mobile contract. That's why I felt slightly dismayed when the chap said it's declined. Plus month's of being a good customer, no missed payments etc.
So having the decision overturned by their credit referral dept and no deposit asked for, I believe it's a higher score for a laptop deal.

I'm going to check Experian tomorrow morning to see if they have gone as far as a full credit check. Because if wrong card details were entered at their end it would decline immediately.
That's what I think, unless anyone knows different:eek:
If you could send me your full card number, cvv code and Expiry date along with your full name and billing address I will check for you :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Got the bug to apply now :D
They do have some really good deals, I ring a lot of mobiles from my landline so the savings would pay for the contract in reality :p
How far back do they search, is it 3 years? Got my Asda card with 3 yr Experian search and nothing bad at all in that time?

I think it must be 3 years because when I applied last year I still had my bankruptcy details on from 2004:eek:

I joined three last month when they cold called me and they checked my file using my debit card and I passed for a phone and 5gig mobile broadband. This month, I decided to ring up again and get a second 15gig mobile broadband contract so that my daughter can use the 5 gig for school work while I surf MSE *cough*

I accidentally entered a date wrong on their online form and it declined but when I rang them, they went through it all again and I passed.

The only thing they ask is that you have at least £5 in the bank to cover the shadow payment. I don't think that they do a full credit check though, unless you're applying for a laptop deal because if they did, I'm not sure I would've passed! ;)

If you either don't have the money, or enter information wrong you will be declined and they are the only reasons (according to the customer service guy I spoke to).

    Hope that helps :)

Well I've been with 3 for some time on contract, no missed payments etc. They rang me with the offer of the laptop and was surprised them mentioning a credit check with me being with them.

But I do feel and as you have mentioned I think it was down to the card, I used my Sygma Silver card, lots of dosh on it! (don't tell Brian) But the adviser said this is a M&S credit card? I said no, although it does have the same first 4 digits.
He then said he'd get in touch with credit control/referrals and ring me back.

10 mins later her said they have put the laptop order though, plus they are giving me £15 off in Month three and an extra 100 texts!
So dongle comes first, followed by laptop a new model Acer........

credit scoring can be so strange.
