I've got a sim only card at £15 per month and using a Sonyericsson X10 mini, I can't get a 3G signal.

was in leeds today and my parthers o2 iphone had full bars and 3G, yet I only had GPRS.

do you not get 3G on tesco?

  • You certainly should get 3G on Tesco; they sell iPhones and are piggybacking the O2 network!!

I'd query that with Tesco, as you should have been absolutely fine. It may be as simple as something needs to be activated on your phone account.

Are the 3G settings definitely on the phone? Sometimes you have to visit the providers website and there is a page where you can put in your number and it sends the relevant internet details to the phone in a "service text message" (I forgot the actual term ;))

    Yeh settings are all correct.

only other thing I've noticed is that the tesco sim 'chip' is a lot smaller than the o2 'chip' (the sim is same size) I can't get the tesco sim to work in the iphone at all.

I'll give them a ring tomorrow, just to check my account.

Never mind whether it is GPRS or not - have you looked at the charges per Mb if you go over your limit?????
  • Is 3G disabled in the phone menu?

My Sony C510 has the option to chose between 3G, and non-3G (battery charge lasts longer).

This is probably because the iphone is either locked to o2 or doesn't have the Tesco settings

There pretty high ( Unless you obtain it writing that it's a soft cap and you'll get three warnings before they will charge ;) , that also goes for an SMS message telling you're near to your 500mb limit ;) ).

Tesco, every little ( piece of recording and written evidence ) helps :T
