I think starighteners have come on loads in the last couple of years - they are nearly all 200 degrees or more now. I have some remington ones that are great.

I'd agree that GHD straighteners are up there with the best. I had a pair that broke last week and have taken a gamble with a low cost alternative due to lack of funds.

Works fine on my hair but my hair is not particularly thick. The GHD's are undoubtedly better but at a fraction of the price I think the above straighteners give decent results.

Just purchased a pair of Babyliss pro 230 tourmaline hair straighteners from Wilkinsons for £27.95. Great value. Done a brill job on my hair - which is thick and curly and my hairdresser loves it! Anyway it now looks much the same as when I come out of the hairdressers! Not tried any GHD but these are the best I've used. I'd recommend them.

Noticed they'd got some in Boots and Argos for around £60.00 - but I think they have a bit longer plates.

ooooh....but just think what 200 degrees + is doing to your hair!

(Lol...don't get me wrong...I have straightners too....just amazed at people who use them everyday...hair must be fried!)

Just a tip..this probably isn't the right place, but if you use a tiny tiny amount of coconut oil, just on the ends after you've washed your hair, it'll do it the world of good. Don't go and straighten your hair after though lol

laurajayne - I know exactly what you mean ... it mustn't do the hair any good. Mind you the worse condition mine is in the curlier it becomes!

Have to agree these straighteners are FAB, much better than GHDs ive used and i have got very difficult kinky hair !!

I have these straighteners and they are just as good as GHD's if not more so!! As said above they heat to a higher te,perature so they are great for the thick hair i have plus mine come with a FIVE YEAR gurantee!
