toilet off kitchen?

I didn't think this was allowed, but the EA showing me round today assures me it is - is that right?

It was actually a room with shower, toilet and sink. Not sure how I would feel about that...?

Really? I've seen a ton of flats in London that have a toilet directly off the kitchen. I think it's minging myself and I refuse to go view a place like that when I see it on a floorplan - but there's lots of them about in London for sure.

My student house in Norwich in the early noughties was a converted victorian 2 up 2 down, the bathroom being at the end of the extension where the kitchen was.

Didn't they relax the rules on this recently? Thought I saw something about it ...

Not true at all. Needs 1 door and a hand basin.

On a side note, didn't even consider until this was brought up that the house I am buying has a shower/toilet/sink room off the kitchen. Obviously I realised it was there but didn't really give it a second thought. I suppose it's because the kitchen is pretty long and the shower room comes off the far end opposite the table and next to the utility door rather than the 'cooking' end of the kitchen. Interesting one.

My mum has a new build and there is a toilet off the kitchen, there are 2 doors, first door, then small shoe/coat area, then the toilet door.

The one I looked at is similar to that - away from the working end of the kitchen.
I think I must have picked up the two door rule from watching Property Ladder or similar! :p

My sister and her husband bought a house just like that in the Midlands. The bathroom was effing freezing in the winter! Plus the previous owners had installed a shower in a corner of the main bedroom. Mental.
