Car insurance for youngsters

Both my son and daughter are both taking there driving test this week! Was wondering if anyone knows of any cheap car insurances for them, my daughter is 20 and my son 22, i have rang round a few and they are about 2 to 3 thousand pound. My daughter already has a Fiat Punto 1.2 and a 51 reg. Please if any one has found a cheap insurance company let me know.

  • Hi - there are several previous threads covering this and Quinn Direct and
https://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk were mentioned as they both specialize in young drivers.

Hope they both pass their tests.

not always the case as with a provisonal you all ways need to be acompanied by some one over 21 who has been driving for 3 years and many companies think a learner will be more carefull in this cas and that most people when learning will rarly be as high a risk that when thay have passed

This question is asked again and again...
There isnt a single insurer that will insure young people cheaply, it really does vary from insurer.
Like ive said in previous posts, Tesco has been the cheapest for some of my friends but expensive for me.
Your best best it to used websites like confused.com or just ring around, consider doing a pass plus course this may save you money or in my case it may not...
  • My son recently passed his test and the cheapest insurance for him was with Endsleigh but as mentioned previosuly, the best bet is to use confused.com as you only have to put your details in once and its trawla through loads of companies, thats how we found Endsleigh. Good luck
  • In 2004 (age 17) I insured a 1.4 Volvo on a provisional license with Budget - £1,300 for the year. That was TPFT though. Cheapest I could find anywhere, and they were reasonable to deal with.

I'd try them - obviously a 51 plate is going to be different to what I did, and you'll want fully comp.

I remember Admiral weren't bad either - price went through the floor when you added an experienced driver to the policy as named - not the policy holder.

    Good luck. :)
  • Im 22 and im a named driver on my mums insurance as we both share the use of the car and i am with Tesco far the best.

my friend who is 23 and has her own car is with Sheilas wheels she said nothing came up cheaper for her. Its worth a go.

My son passed his test 1n August & his insurance went up by £73, they said its because he will not have an experienced driver sitting by him and he will be using his car more frequently than when he was a learner. He is with Admiral. A 1998 Fiesta fully comp. £933 he is aged 23. I am a named driver that made it loads cheaper even though I rarely drive it now he has passed his test.
