Can geographical numbers charge premium rates?
I recently had the misfortune of needing to call Jet2. The cheeky beggars list all their available numbers on the website, but try to get UK residents to call their 50p per minute 0900 number! Like a good money saver I looked them up on SayNoTo0870.com and phoned their geographical number.
When the recorded answer played, it stated that calls to that number would cost 50p per minute.
Is this just because I was put through to exactly the same "line" as the premium rate number? Is the call charge strictly linked to the number you dial, or have Jet2 found a way to foil my efforts and charge 50p per minute even though I called a geographical number?
P.S. Another reason why they're jerks - playing a load of recorded information that is available on the website on their premium rate phone number. If I'm calling you at a cost of 50p per minute, it's because your website didn't answer my questions

Probably just re-directed you straight to the premium rate line it sounds like0

To me this shows what a good job sayno does. It's put you through to exactly the same line that you would have got to if you dialled the number they publish.
No, you won't have been overcharged for it.0 -
No you've been transferred in to the same IVR, using a geographic line, so you wont pay the premium rate - you're just hearing the messages that the 0900 diallers hear. And the lengthy call duration is kinda the point....but you knew that.0

Cheers guys - I suspected it wasn't possible or legal of them to transfer the call to a high rate line, but then I thought that if they inform you on the recorded message, perhaps they can wangle it.
Well, glad they didn't get the better of me. Cheers :money:0
