Clothes order wrong size

Options
Hi

I ordered clothes from republic.co.uk the other day and they arrived today. The colthes were online not described as slim fit despite the fact they were. As such they dont really fit (Not that its impossible to button the shirt up but its to tight to raise my arms)

So my question is do I have to pay to return they goods, they say yes but I dont think thats fair as they were not as described.

Well, you can ask again and explain the situation and see if they're change their mind. But if they don't it's easier to just accept it.

The problem is it's difficult to judge 'not as described' for your complaint; I doubt if there was anything more on the description than a couple of photos and basic measurements? As such, as long as those measurements are correct then it is 'as described'. One persons 'slim fit' is another persons 'standard', thus unless something in the description is significantly factually incorrect you don't really have a case. Sorry.

That's basically one of the issues with buying clothes on-line; may be in the future stick to company's with a free return policy.

Thanks for the advice, but the label of the shirt describes it as slim fit. (This is mens clothes btw)

However the measurements on the website are standard fit, I dont know if your allowed to link but this is the shirt. http://www.republic.co.uk/Shirts/Firetrap-Bleeker-Short-Sleeved-Shirt/invt/55941#

Just an additional question, is it stipulated in their T&C's (which you should have received in a durable form - ie by email or in writing) that the buyer is reponsible for return postage if they are not returning for faulty/damaged reasons.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

From what they sent me it appears as if the buyer is responsible for return costs under all circumstances unless they are faulty, in which case you have to phone a number they give you. They arent faulty, but wrongly described.

Where does it say it's standard fit? I couldn't see measurements for that particular shirt or a size guide for Firetrap.

It doesnt but if you click 'View size guide' it states firetrap standard sizes, which show standard sizes, not slim fit which have a narrower chest.
And I always presumed if it didnt say slim fit it was standard, as what happen on other webpages on the republic website, and every other site/ catelogue ive seen.

It does say on 'view size guide', "This information is provided as a guide only. Sizing does vary between brands."

Can't see any mention of "slim fit" on those pages. Are you saying you ordered a "S" (small), but you've received a "S (slim flit)" and that's what it says on the label?

Yes I ordered a small, which usually do fit me, but recieved a small slim fit, which if anyone who knows male clothes tend to be much tighter on the chest area than normal small sizes. (Dont get me wrong, if it was a normal small id have no problem with it, but its slim fit)
    Thanks for all the replies.

If it definitely says "slim fit" on the label then I'd agree your entitled to claim it's 'not as described' and ask for return postage to be paid. Since you've tried contacting by phone, try e-mail and letter. Make sure to say it's not a return because of the wrong size, but because it's 'not as described'.

However, if the label simply says "Small" and nothing more, than measurements or not it's still as described (the website only gives guideline measurements, it doesn't claim them to be correct. Pay the return postage.

    The label says-
    Small- Slim Fit
Written exactly like that, though you can see from the webpage it only says small. Im a size small, but if somthing is slim fit a medium, so I would never of bought it if I had known. Ive phoned them but it would just disconnect for some reason, so ive sent an email, however obviously they wont get back until monday now, even though I sent it at about 3, and they say in their auto reply they always try to get back in the hour.
