Luabay Costa Los Gigantes - anyone been recently?

I've seen mixed reviews of this hotel since it started being run by Luabay this summer.

It was run by Springs and is going to become First Choice Holiday Village Tenerife next summer.

Has anyone upgraded to the 'Splendit' package? It is as pointless as it seems?

Anyone got any tips on which blocks to request a room in? Which blocks overlook the road and which overlook the pool area?

Anyone got any info about the 'big crane' in front of the hotel? Not really a problem for me, being in the construction industry and unlike some, I accept that people do in fact build things in holiday resorts!!!

Price of approx £900 for 8 nights AI for 2 adults and 1 x 12 year old (free) seems to be the best deal around. (I've already got fights from MAN on 26/8 at approx £250 each return inc 20kg hold luggage.)

I think your right about the price of the property on your dates, just had a quick look myself

The hotel still is very popular, I get a call at least once a day to be honest of people wanting to stay there

Not too sure about the crane!

Just seen a good report posted on Tripadvisor this morning, so all seems good.

Seems to be a good choice as 'er indoors will want a good spa and Ms withabix junior will want a good pool/kids scene. I will be at the bar. Or eating. Or both!

We've been to Los Gigantes/Puerto de Santiago area before (to the scary Hotel Los Gigantes 'oldies hotel', although we did get the best suite in the hotel for a give-away price) and like the location.

Have just read however that two of the three beaches are closed, due to landslips like last summer (when someone got killed at Los Gigantes beach)....

Bahia Principe further along the coast was on the list, but that seems to be very full - First Choice seem to be the only site showing a room, but they want a scorchio £1700+ for it (mind you they show Luabay Costa Los Gigantes at the same price, so that shows something....)

We're off to the hotel Isabel a bit further down the coast, in Costa Adeje / Playa de Fanabe area.

Got this after a lot of searching as the Bahia Principe and other popular ones all came in at ridiculous prices. We're going at Christmas and the prices are eye watering because everyone seems to be off on holiday then.

It has a kids club, 3 bars, big heated pool and is 1/2km from the golden sandy beach (shipped from the Sahara some years back according to t'internet)

We were there in April. It was a pretty decent hotel. There was a good variety of food, although the buffet did get busy. Make sure you have the fillet steak on steak night at the a la carte! The rooms were really nice and the spa was good - I think you'll have a lovely time

Luabay Costa Los Gigantes was excellent - one of the only hotels we've ever been too where we would definitely go back again!!
