I am selling a brand new unopened (thus untested) router on ebay, if the buyer were to say it were faulty (assuming he tried it straight away), would I have to offer a refund?

if you are a business then possibly, if you are a private seller then probably not.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Could it not be returned as SNAD, assuming the seller sells it as new and working?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
OP, ask on the ebay board for further thoughts. :beer:0

If you're operating as a business then definitely yes. As a private seller then you'd be subject to ebay/PayPal granting a refund to the buyer if you refused to. Anyway, morally you should refund as long as it's within a reasonable time-frame (say 1-2 week(s) of delivery, beyond that I'd consider it fair enough to refer them to the manufacturer).
If you want to avoid the prospect/risk of having to refund it then state clearly in the advert that the product is untested and you won't refund if faulty (and don't hide such in small print).
Just consider the buyer's viewpoint and how you'd feel if you bought an apparently 'new' item to find it doesn't work. Simple.0 -

Yes it could, I meant legally you wouldn't have to but via ebay they could force you to.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Why would you think the buyer wouldn't get a refund on return if it was faulty? If you refused to refund Paypal would force you.0
