Can anyone suggest a good place to stay in HK?
I know some will say you can't go wrong there but what would be useful is whether it's better to stay on HK insland or Kawloon.
What are good places to visit.
What is a must do there and what to avoid
What's a must buy there and what to not buy
Thanks to all in advance

I've always stayed on Hong kong Island in the Causeway bay area whic seems quite central. It is very easy to get round Hong Kong, the subways are easy to use and excellent. Go to the Peak for the views and to Stanley Market. If you go to Stanley go by bus, it's the mst scenic way. Kow loon is very easy to get to my subway, try to come back by boat for the views of the island. Ladies Market ( Mon Kock i think) is good for fakes and a bargain, but do barter!!
Electrics are good but be careful of the shops near Ladies Market, some can be a bit dodgy. Try the ones in Times square.
Night life is great.

I would recommend causeway bay also
go to the peak
wildlife park (can't remember name at the mo) it has Panda's
Star ferry is a must at night time
Lantau
Try doing a search of the travel board , here , whre there have been many discussions and recommendations for HK"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
happy travels !!

We were there in May and loved it. The 'must do' for me is Happy Valley Races every Wednesday. Fantastic atmosphere, cheap as chips to get in and even if you don't bet it is a great night out. If you do you feel like a highroller puting on HK$100, about £8! Handfulls of money when you win and notalot when you don't0
