Easiest way to sell a car

Comments

  • I have sold two cars in the last 12 months, and no I'm not a dealer..

1st car was sold as a result of a post of a local forum I'm a member of, they have a for sale/wanted section.. lots of info in the description

2nd car was sold via ebay - lots of pictures, lots of info. Stated that buyer must collect, must make contact with 48 hours of the end of the auction, car to be collected within a week of the end of the auction. Payment by cash or cheque, cheque would have to clear before I would hand over the car..

It must be said these were for old, sub 1k cars..

You could always try putting it into an auction. It's a bit of a gamble, as it's not guaranteed to sell, and you'll have to pay the listing fee anyway, plus a commission on the sale price. You probably won't get as much as you would if you sell privately, but it's a relatively hassle-free way of getting rid.

Many years ago I auctioned an old car of mine. Book price was about £600 for it, I ended up with about £450 after fees, commission etc. But it was easy and quick.

May be worth a punt if you're feeling lucky, punk :-)

I dont think gumtree has really taken off in the NE, but willing to e proved wrong. I always think ebay is a good place to buy/sell cars for under a grand. Also worth putting a free add on pistonheads, especially the type of car you are selling has a following.

I usually use Autotrader, for cars sub £1000 I think it's £9.95 for website only.

Try your local car auction. In my experience, small cars with tax and MOT circa £1,000 sell very well almost irrespective of condition.

  • Everything I've sold has gone through Autotrader probably around 10-12 cars last few years.... 25% Quidco aswell remember.

Use the Telesafe option to stop the Pests from calling.

Decent description... Remember to include MOT TAX Mileage etc and decent Photos!!... Amount of adverts with little to no details is amazing...

I've also used Ebay classifieds aswell.

    Stick it on ebay.

Then you'll get lots of people (mostly Nigerian)offering you much more than it's worth...:rotfl:

Got to be worth it eh?

Seriously, just be careful about scammers etc.

    Ebay's fees are a rip-off.
  • You'd have to be stupid or desperate to use Webuyanycar....
