how much it costs to fill the tank is irelevant, you are only replacing what you have used
we had to pay £75 deposit we would return it with a full tank as we recieved it with a full tankNeed a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!0 -

We dont mind chasing if we know how to do it etc

just write to the other parties insurance company stating you wish to claim all monies you have lost, ie your excess and stating the amount you want back. if theres anything else you need to claim for that got damaged in the accident, just detail those costs too

should we still go to a higher manager to complain about his tone and service? x
You would be truly stupid to drive it now they have told you your insurance has ended. If you get caught (or have an accident) you will have no defence, get fined at least £200, at least 6 points, and have great difficulty getting insurance in future at anything less than a small fortune for years to come! Plus you will be guilty of driving without permission (TWOC!)
But yes, complain about the way you have been spoken to - though that's a separate issue.0 -
So how are we meant to fill it up to egt the £75 back? The petrol station is literally round the corner but of course we'd rather not risk it but if we don't give it back full tank we are going against the agrement we signed- arhhhh!Need a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!0

It's by far the lesser evil, and far, far less a penalty (maybe you can go with the driver when he comes and fill it up).
And they thwarted you sticking to the agreement by stopping the insurance cover even though you explained the problem.
So if they impose a penalty, you would have good grounds to sue for it back.0 -
well my bf is home now (8pm) and their offices are closed. The car may be picked up anytime now and he will be at work so no1 could go with the driver to fill it up. Its like we have been trapped. suggestions?Need a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!0

Just explain the situation to them, confirm you had explained you couldn't take the car to fill it up before the insurance deadline, and ask them not to impose any surcharge on the petrol they had to buy.
If they do, include it in your complaint, and pursue them for a refund.0 -
if they don't get the car tomorrow my bf can ring and speak to someone higher and explain the situation.
We have decided to not fill it up and he is going to try ring during his break and explain.
Lets hope we get somewhere.
