im a single dad (52) yrs old,my son is 12,on my last visit to the jobcentre, my job advisor a youing lady in her twenties, got really stroppy because i had only sent 2 cvs in a fortnight, she raised her voice, and spoke to me like a school kid.and told me to ring a number for a work trial.
then said i had to send 8 cvs a fortnight, and start ringing companies for job interveiws, and also put me on a a4e course, whatever that is,then she cancelled the course 10 mins later,i think she has taken a dislike to me ,and me her, could i change my adviser,

I wouldn't think you would be able to change advisor at all based on what you have said.

I would be slightly shocked as well at 2 cv's a fortnight to be honest.

Due to my husband working full time I don't get any benefits at all and I still manage to send out more CV's a week then that.

  • My daughter claimed JSA for a couple of months last year. She sent out about 150 CVs over the two months, in addition to filling in numerous job applications. She then found work with an agency with variable hours. Today, she has been interviewed and offered another job, so she will be working two jobs to make her hours up to full time.

In addition, she volunteers for two Guiding units and helps around the house. OK, so she has no children herself, but she's usually happy to help me with her brother, who has several disabilities.

Why do you think the advisor is wrong to request that you be a bit more pro-active when looking for work?

The rest of your post is moot.

You need to send more than 2 CVs a fortnight to find a job.

I would suggest that if thats all your doing to find a job, you need to try harder. I have a guy who works or me who sent about 10 applications/CVs/letters a day to find a job, still took him 3 months to gain employment.

I also think your adviser (however her age) thinks the same.

I see you mention everyones age (yourself, your son, your adviser) in your post, can I suggest you get past all that and try harder to get a job.

    Regards.

I am hitting anywhere from 2 plus a day but most don't even bother replying in anyway at all.

Must be honest though if I have to do the proper online applications I can normally only manage 2 per day as it gives me brain ache

Why had you only sent 2 CV's?

From the look of the OP's other posts, they seem incapable of doing anything but the bare minimum.

2 CV's a week is not enough and you know it OP, you need to be more proactive and doing more to get a job
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

If you want a job then you have to do it on your own accord, what area are you looking for work in eg what type of work are you after as you ought to expand your chances by applying for other jobs out there
