    who are you,the cv police,

I was just asking a question, there could be valid reasons as to why you have not.

If you just wanted the question, 'Could I change my advisor?' then this is what you should have asked and not put down all the extra which even you can see is going to lead to questions such as the one I asked.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!

OP why dont you set yourself a target of sending 4 cv's a week, are you being realistic with the jobs your applying for ?

    He asked a fair question.

I don't know what you were expecting from your thread? You haven't explained your circumstances, all we have to go on is that you're annoyed your advisor quizzed you on why you only sent out 2 cv's in a fortnight.
  • If you don't like your advisor so much, send out more CV's so you've got a better chance of getting a job and don't have to see them again. That's what I did. Hit the 6 month mark, met my personal advisor, decided he was a d**k and then applied for 12 jobs in 24 hours. One of them gave me an interview and a week later, I had a job. Never had to deal with my advisor again.

And isn't 1 application a week breaking your JSA agreement anyway?
  • OP, as others have said, the sooner you get a job the sooner you will be able to leave your JCP advisor.

I personally think that you should be sending out alot more CV cos at the end of the day you are claiming JSA and should be actively searching and applying. Far too many people make excuses as to why they can't and my hat is off to anyone who does apply for jobs insteads of just sitting on their backside and thanking the government for the handouts. (I am talking generic here, not saying ur one of those)

If you do have a genuine need or require extra support in job search etc then liaise with the JCP. If not, get applying, make sure your CV is current and up to date and make yourself known to employers and agencies.

Good luck and keep pushing for that job. Get yourself out of that rut and you'll feel much better about yourself.

perhaps if peoples attitudes were more along the lines of my first post then it would be better.

Probably that Patman said they shred CVs, not applications. Big difference.

Personally, I never send out unsolicited CVs, I think it just makes me a nuisance to the employer and I've never heard of anyone getting a job that way. I did always have my applications in within 24 hours or less of a job being advertised. Constantly checking job sites for new ads is probably a better use of time than sending out endless CVs to people who don't want them.

Probably one of the most sensible posts I've ever read in MSE!

    Cheers :)
