  • dont bother with netguard, you'll find software made by ISP's are poorly coded, download avast or avg for free and use with zonealarm (firewall), free too.

If you want to pay, get antivirus called NOD32, best on the market at the moment (my own personal opinion)
But i still use zonealarms firewall, easy to use and configure

Heaven knows on what factual basis you can make a statement like that! And ISPs don't code antivirus software, they buy it from a firm whose job it is to code antivirus software!

The Telewest/blueyonder equivalent to NTL's Netguard is called PCGuard. Read all about it!

  • I'd steer well clear of Zone Alarm - after version 4.5 it started to get really invasive & did far more than a firewall should need to do. As far as free antiviruses are concerned they rarely produce as good results as paid-for or ISP-supported ones, (though last month the full version of Antivir came top in one independant test I saw, & the free version uses the same engine - beat AVG & Avast by miles.
The main advantage of Netguard, apart from being 'free' is that it's a full suite - AV, firewall, antispyware, antispam & you know they will happily integrate so the average user shouldn't need to use any other tools - great for peace of mind.
