Just a pointer for any NTL users who weren't aware, but you are able to download a very good security package - NTL Netguard - for free. I've been using it for a while now & it is as good as many (Kaspersky, AntiVir(pro)) & better than a lot (Norton, McAfee...). I could never understand why Norton only updates once a week automatically - even free ones like AVG, AntiVir etc. do it daily, if not more often.
Anyway, if you have just got NTL, your next step is to download Netguard.
And before anyone asks, 'no, I have nothing to do with NTL', it's just nice to get something for your £25/month or more.
Plus, you can install it on all your home PCs at no extra 'cost' - try doing that with Norton!! - 4 PCs in house & you'd be talking £100/year!!

Thanks for that. I have NTL - had no idea what netguard was.. sounded like a pigging parental control to me! Is it a firewall as well or just anti virus?/ if latter i'll get it later[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

It's a complete suite - antivirus, firewall, antispyware, antispam etc. What you'd pay £40 for from Norton, McAfee etc.0

just to add...."telewest".too0

Thanks for that - I knew they'd joined up but didn't know if they had the same set-up. Is it still called 'netguard' with Telewest?0

I've been using Netguard Antivirus for some time now - no complaints at all, it seems to do a good job and isn't as processor-hungry as Norton.
As for the firewall and anti-spyware, this is part of the Netgard Total service which is only free to 4Mb and 10 Mb subscribers. For the lowly types like me on 1Mg, Netguard Total is only available for free as a trial.0 -
I had a problem with Netguard if you have several XP accounts. Even if you stay logged in whilst switching users, Netguard always closed down on the first account and then restarted on the second, which took quite a few minutes. I got fed up waiting for it in the end and uninstalled it.0
