talk talk to virgin?

Hi all,
I'm considering getting either sky or virgin to replace my current freeview box. At the moment my freeview is crap, apart from the fact I've seen everything they own more than once already, every time something with a small moter is turned on in the area my signal is knocked off (strimmers, minis, electric toothbrushes...).
I don't think I can afford tv/phone/net with different providers so I'm looking at going from talk talk phone and net to sky or virgin tv/phone/net (considering mobile move to virgin too). I know that talktalk will want £70 if I cancel, which I can't afford, I don't know when my contract runs till either. Can I find this out in my online account or do I have to call india for an hour to find out?
How do I switch? Assuming I leave it till my contract ends, say it ends on a monday, do I book virgin/sky for the tuesday? I really don't want to be charged £70 by talktalk

Virgin uses a completely different network so you could have virgin installed before your talktalk is switched off.0

Cheers, that hadn't occured to me lol. How does it work if I choose sky though? Sky is looking cheaper at the moment, but virgins internet speeds should be better... Getting married 18/06/11 :beer:0

Hi KezzKezz,
The Contract Breakage fee is no longer set at 70, this is related to the remaining contract term and plan price and is confirmed at the point of a disconnection request.
If you register on the TalkTalk Members Forum (<http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums>) we can check your account and advise the remaining contract term, anticipated fee etc.
In terms of the switch if you do choose to sign up with Virgin you may have to contact TT to cancel the service separately. As jb66 correctly advised Virgin are likely to install an additional line leaving you with two concurrent services, which will both have relevant charges.
Regards

The same applies. VM is a cable service, all the others are ADSL broadband requiring a BT line, so entirely separate-you can have both at the same time if you wanted. No free lunch, and no free laptop
