No Forced Entry - Am i stuffed?

So let's get this straight...they stole a load of stuff - somehow managed to get in and leave without leaving any evidence? I think this case calls for Jonathan Creak
By the way how does one snap a sofa in half?
The OP didn't say there wasn't any evidence - he/she said there was no evidence of forced entry. There could be plenty of forensic evidence, for all we know.
When I was burgled, they left the back and front door wide open - there were gouges all over both where they had tried to get them open with a screwdriver (or whatever) however, the police couldn't get any forensic evidence at all!
BTW, isn't it Jonathan Creek?0 -
How much forensic effort do the police spend on a £2K to £3K burglary?
It's a serious question.
My expectation would be that it would be hard to get them to lift a finger, however they might be more interested in multilple burglaries.
I'm not anti-police it's just that resources are tight and on it's own it's fairly low level low cost crime, no-one has been hurt.0 -
They do send in forensics for far less than a £2k burglary. If there was a thwarted attempt to get into a property but there was any forensic evidence they'd send for them. Catching and convicting one burglar can solve many crimes. Excellent for statistics.0

one print could lead to the conviction of a serial burglar'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Still trying to get my head around what might have happened.
Have you got a letterbox in your back door?0 -
Yes, letter box is in the back door.
There is plenty of evidence inside my house of the robbery, every room has been turned over.
The damage to my sofa is 2 fold... they stripped one of the seats of its outer case apparently to use as a bag to carry the goods.
The sofa is also a corner sofa, and not sure what they were looking for ( possibly the remotes ), but to get under the sofa they snapped the connections of each section so that the sofa is no longer fits together...
I would call that a broken sofa!0 -

We only had about £900-£1,000 worth of stuff stolen but they did take it very seriously - first of all they sent a SOCO round to dust the place for fingerprints and footprints (made a terrible mess) then two uniformed officers to ask questions, then a security officer to advise me and install some additional locks (for free).0
