I am thinking of buying a Sky+ HD 1TB box and self installing it to replace my existing Sky+ box, to get the higher recording capacity. Can I do this without paying the extra £10 per month to Sky, and would I still have access to the free BBC HD channel? (which I believe is available through Freesat)

    Yes - you will also get ITV HD ( assuming you're not in Scotland) , Five HD, Luxe HD and Channel 4 HD.

    But there are ways to get ITV HD in scotland

    True. STV HD is also available through other channels as well as ITV HD. Unfortunately does not allow for recording, live pause though.
