Connfused about internet for Samsung Galaxy S

I have decided to get the Samsung Galaxy S, but I am now getting confused over the internet access that is suitable or accessable for this phone.

Both contracts, I've shortlisted with Orange, offer either unlimited internet OR 500mb internet. Will this be ok for this phone? I've been reading on here about 'unlimited net' '3gb web' 'internet booster' and I don't know whether these packages and phone I've choose include them or not!!! Sorry, little bit slow when it comes to technical talk!

    'Boosters' are a T-Mobile term.

No provider offers 'unlimited' anymore. They all come with caps, ranging from 500mb to 3gb. 500mb will likely be sufficient.

As LeeSouthEast says, the 3gb allowance is with T-mobile and is automatically applied if you take an android phone directly with them (non-android phone is 1gb allowance). I was worried about a low allowance when I got my Galaxy S but in the first two weeks, I've used a grand total of 33MB!! Thats basically surfing the web for 25 mins to and from work.

As long as you don't plan on streaming music or videos, 500MB should be more than enough.

If you can get it on a business plan you can get a bit extra, o2 750mb and Vodafone 1GB.

I like many others have the 500mb limit but i only use about 200-250mb per month. When at home i connect to my WIFI and when out and about if i can i hook up to a WIFI.

T-Mobile is unlimited, if you get to 3gb then your speed is throttled between 4pm and 10pm, but there is no cap.
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?
  • Thanks all for the nice answers
