Help with choosing a new freeview box

Hello

I want to get a new freeview box. The one I have at the moment sometimes doesn't work on some channels. It's always the same channels so I think it is because the memory isn't big enough, my box is fairly old. I remember hearing something about needing more memory in freeview boxes when they did something to the signal a while back. Sorry about being so vague. I would like an inexpensive, reliable freeview box. All recommendations welcome. Thanks.

The SD ones are pretty much of a muchness IMO so just pick up the cheapest you see.

If you are having problems with a multiplex, and a rescan doesn't work, the aerial/signal would be the first suspect, but also checkout known compatibility problems with your model

I have a matsui DVB tutv1 digital tv receiver. I don't know how old it is as I bought it from a charity shop over a year ago, so I assume it's pretty old.

I have a neighbour who doesn't let anyone into his house.

I have a friend who lives 5 minutes walk away if that helps

Have you done a rescan to see if that helps?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Any Luck? I f you do decise to buy a new one I would definitly recommend a HUMAX model. I bought my mum one after reading lots of excellent reviews. I went for the HUMAX PVR 9150T. You can even buy "managers specials" direct from Humax, These specials are repaired/old models but still come with a one year warranty, so you could pick one of at a good price.

    hope this helps.

Thanks for everyones help. I have rescanned it a few times and still the same problem. It also isn't like that all the time. I can have days of having all the channels, although at the moment I have been without some channels for a couple of days.

I have heard good things about Humax but they are a bit more than I want to spend.
