Help with choosing a new freeview box

    If it isn't always screwed up then it isn't a compatibility problem it's a signal strength problem as was mentioned earlier - little point swapping out the box in that case - you need to think about the aerial instead.

    When is your digital switchover - http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/when_do_i_switch - Freeview signal levels will be increased then so if it isn't too far away the money savers choice would be to put up with it for now.

    My switchover date is 30th March 2011. I will wait it out. I was just thinking that it was because my freeview box was old, after doing some research I think it came out about 2005/2006. It's worked well other than this problem. Not bad for £5 from a charity shop! I used to get freeview from Virgin but got fed up of their high prices and bad customer service.

    Some old boxes did stop working properly a while back - that was when everybody had to retune. I'd assumed your box was one of those but if it works some of the time it can't be.

    That's the same date as my area but I gave up on Freeview and moved over to Freesat when I moved house as Freeview was impossible to receive without a huge aerial and maybe not even then at my new place.
