PAYG Dongle

Looks like I'll be without broadband for up to 10 days when I switch providers so I was wondering if there are any good deals out there for Dongles. I don't expect to use it for much, just emails, internet banking etc so it's not worth it if it's going to be expensive but if I can get one for £10 or so then it would be worthwhile. It may also come in handy if I have any problems setting up the connection with my new supplier.
Unfortunately none of the pubs in our area have free wifi !!

As you intend to use it for internet banking that's probably fortunate rather than unfortunate as your connection can be monitored on public WiFi,

You won't get one with bandwidth too for £10. Think more in terms of £25-30. The most important criteria is whether it will work at all where you ant to use it rather than the price though.

Use this to find the nearest 2100MHz UMTS cell - http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ ideally you need to be within 500m although they sometimes work reasonably well over a longer distance.

If you switch ISP's using a MAC you should not have any noticeable downtime-maybe an hour at most. Why 10 days?

I assumed TalkTalk back to BT.

It could be BT to TalkTalk but then the potential down time is weeks or months from what I've seen reported :)

It's Tiscali (Talk Talk) to Sky. Have to wait until the phone line gets taken over then 5 to 10 days for the BB to be set up

Thanks. That sounds worth a look. I have checked coverage and there's a transmitter in the farmers field at the back so 3 coverage should be quite good.

go for t-mobile if you buy 30 days for 15 pound you can use for the entire 30 days even if you run out of bandwith what they do is limit access to sites that use flash between 4- midnight but you can still browse 24/7
other providers will not let you access at all once bandwidth is up
