MIssed call query?

I had two missed calls on my mobile. I enter a lot of the competitions using this number. The missed calls were from +18500774445. I have tried google and who called me with no joy and I have tried returning the call but is sounds like the line is engaged and my phone is showing a wrong number.
Apologies if this is the wrong place for posting but it is bugging me. I don't know why it shows as +1 either. I know if you look at phone number to phone home from abroad they start with +44, but +1 is a new one on me .
