Anyone trying to sell in the South??

Hi all, I just wondered if there is anyone on this board that are trying to sell in the South of England, particularly Wiltshire area?
The market in my town has gone absolutely dead. Nothing is selling at all (unless agents are not updating rightmove) and there don't appear to be any sold signs around. There are a few houses that have dropped in price but not signifcantly. We have dropped ours by just under 20k hoping to get some people through the door but nothing. Our house is now much lower in price than anything else comparable on the market with a good agent, good pictures and well advertised. Its the sort of house that would sell quite quickly in a better market.

I'm not really after any rhyme or reason for my house not getting viewers I just wanted some comfort in knowing that we are not alone in all this!

I keep seeing others on this board accpepting offers and having viewings as well as buyers asking about buying houses but they don't seem to be in this area!!!

This is so frustrating. Anyone else feel the same?

I'm hoping thats the case, in which case we should have buyers flooding through the door in September (ours is a family home)!!! Somehow I think its more that that though.....

I always thought that April-June and September-November where the most active selling times - except for near the seaside.

We are in Wiltshire, trying to sell a 4-bed family home, and not even a viewer in the last 6 weeks. There are houses selling in our town, but it is very patchy - the odd house is going under offer within a few days of going on the market, other perfectly decent houses have been on the market for weeks.

I sympathise with you. We changed agents and reduced price. I actually think if we had reduced it even further there still wouldn't be any interest - we were told by our EA if we reduced it any further we would be giving it away (not sure about that but I see his point!).

I think I am going to try not to think about it now until middle of September and if still nothing we will give up and wait until next year. I don't want our house to be just one of many that haven't sold for months - people will get bored of looking at it on rightmove!

Hi thanks for your interest or nosiness shall I say!! I would rather not post a link because I don't want to upset the stats or come under scrutiny (as some on here have).

I really don't think its anything to do with the way its being marketed. We are pretty clued up and know the market very well here (always looking even if we weren't for sale!). Our area has had a very bouyant time until recently and I always said houses were so expensive in comparison to peoples salary - perhaps now things are changing. We also had a lot of job relocations to this area up until last year which probably helped. What doesn't help though is the amount of new build estates going up so perhaps these are what are selling rather than anything else. God help those people buying in one particular area where there is a new estate going up, thats all I can say!!!

We are selling in Hampshire, so not far from you.

We have finally exchanged contracts 5 months after we marketed the house. I am pleased we put it on the market when we did as this area is now flooded with houses for sale. Every day I see new For Sale boards going up in the villages. Some of these sell literally as soon as they are on the market, others hang around for months and months.

Hi, yes not far from us. In fact I was driving through a seafront location in Hampshire today and they all had sold signs up (none for sale). I think we missed the boat by about a month in putting ours on. Just been on rightmove this evening and there are some big price drops occurring in my area at the higher end of the market and even some at the FTB end. Not much use if no-ones looking though!
