Ownership is debatable - tho' if push came to shove the monarch could probably sell them
So, on balance probably the Imperial State Crown.0 -
The mines. We won't be able/afford to build enough nuclear stations before gas and oil prices go to the moon, and we're held to ransom by Gasprom et al. Getting peeps down t'pit is the only way to restore energy security or the lights will be going out and staying from 2014 or so.0

The railways – the whole system still relies on government subsidy, why not stop pretending the disastrous privatisation has worked.0

Why don't you list the choices... I've no idea what has been taken/given/whatever...0

Is there anything much down there left to mine? If so what's better about the Government digging it up. I'd rather see someone who specialises in running mines running the mines than a lawyer turned politician.0 -
Nothing. No renationalisation.
All around the world, governments are privatising things they currently own. Why would be buck the trend?
It's anathema to the idea of progress.0 -

British Gas, British Aerospace, Cable and Wireless, Britoil, the National Bus Company, British Airways, Rolls Royce, British Steel, British Telecom, the electricity-generating industry and the water companies....to name but a few.

And how exactly do you propose the universally acknowledged bankrupt Exchequer pays for these renationalisations? And what happens if individual shareholders like me refuse to sell.
Nope . . you can't stuff the genie back in the bottle once it's been released.0 -

Whatever other European countries do to manage/subsidise their railways should be copied immediately in this country. I'd hardly call what we have now "progress".They are an EYESORES!!!!0
