I was pretty blunt about it
I got to feeling that my relationship now was worth more than my previous one, and having done the full commitment thing then I wanted to do that again with him. I also felt that I didn't want my only marriage to have been a failed one when I feel so much happier now with OH. In my head I had all the 'its only a bit of paper argument' but the feeling of wanting to be married got stronger and stronger, it was like I didn't want our relationship now to be in any way 2nd best - sounds daft I know but even in wedding planning I've gone from thinking it would be very very low key to feeling that this may be my second wedding but it's not second best. We'd been together 5.5 years when he did propose0 -
My hubby proposed walking along a street on holiday, totally spontanous and really exciting, I was so shocked and really excitied it couldnt have been better to be honest..... happy ever after for us ..0

Suppose you and your partner had been married before. Neither of you are hugely 'into' marriage (...just a piece of paper...) and right from when you first met you agreed that neither of you was interested in getting married again. And that was 100% genuine. So now you've lived together for a few years. But for some weird reason you start to fancy being married after all....how would you drop that hint/raise that question?
My mum was with her partner for 10 years (living together) before they decided to get married. They did it in the 10th year to mark the 10th year- not sure who decided, they just announced to to the rest of the family as if they were going out for a meal!
They never were a pair for going OTT though and my mum bought her dress from ebay...partner rented his outfit and did everything in a registry office....splured on the after wedding party though. 12hr paaarty! Even bought in a DJ (which is a big deal as my mum's partner is a DJ in his 2nd job) Think they were waiting to afford to be married IMO!:cool:0
