I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • :)Hi everyone, not done much in the way of debt busting today but after a discussion with a colleague about her mortgage overpayments she has inspired me to aim for early mortgage repaying so once I manage to get rid of this stupid cc debt and overdrafts I'm gonna sign up to MFW :D Although I might not stress about that too much as the mortgage is on repayment and due to finish the year hubbie turns 50 and i'll be 48:eek:

I may be getting just a little ahead of myself :o so I will try to just aim to get rid of this debt first, still going for by the end of 2011 and really hoping I can do it. Still haven't added anything to the cc which really is a massive achievement. haven't done that for months, which is probably obvious:rotfl:

my daughter is staying with her uncle for the next 2 nights so i'm going to go through her room and see what I can find for ebay/throw out as both her and my sons rooms are a complete mess. I'm not at work tomorrow so may well have a go at my sons room, although he'll be here and in traditionally 3 year old style he won't want to part with anything!! But at least I can get it tidy:)

Back with more exciting thoughts later:rotfl:
  • In the past few days, since I started my diary I seem to have spent every spare hour ready DFW threads and diaries to pick up hints and tips for MS lifestyle.

My plan for today is to tidy dd's bedroom, it's a complete pit and full of things she rarely touches. Her wardrobe is full to the brim and she doesn't need that many clothes as after the holidays she'll be mostly wearing uniform, so i'm going to slim her wardrobe down a bit.

Then ds wants to play some games:D cute!

I need to see if I can find 2 cheap address books, will probably try ebay, although I'd think the £1 shop would have them, but I don't want to venture into town really.

I also have lots of work to do, so plan to do a bit tonight once ds is in bed.

oh and I need to find my meal planner to see what tonight's dinner is and get the meat out of the freezer.

Just off to check how the ebay auctions are doing.....

Oh and on the ebay front, I think I might try to list 10(ish) items a week so that I (a) get a bit of cash every week(hopefully!) (b) don't have to list mountains at once (c) keep decluttering (d) don't have to take sackfulls to the post office at once and annoy the old people:rotfl: I reckon I'll have enough to list 10 items a week for a fair while. My wardrobe needs sorting, I have some dresses I never wear and a lot of party bag things I bought with the intention of trying to sell ready made party bags:rotfl: At one point I decided to do quite a few random things to raise cash. I think it was a way to make myself think I was doing something about the debt but I was just ignoring the issue and giving myself extra jobs:o

I have to say that I feel better now i've admitted the issue and have started to do something about it. I know it's early days and I will have slip ups but MSE is very supportive. I am going to use my diary as a place to put down random thoughts as well as, hopefully, got things i've done which might help others.

Back in a mo with an ebay update......
  • well that's not bad, 6/15 have bids already. 9/15 have watchers and there's 3 1/2 days left to go before they end. keeping fingers crossed. Would be fab if they could raise £50

Ooo actually I think the cupboard in ds' room has more ebay stuff in it. I'll check later and report back!!
  • Job 1 done, kids rooms all tidy, hoovered and rubbish free:j dd's room actually doesn't have many toys in it just lots of rubbish, she likes to draw and write ALOT!! Found a few things to ebay nearer to christmas. Ds' room, well there's about 3 bin bags full of stuff I can ebay near christmas :j there's loads I don't ever see him play with. Not sure where to store the stuff til Nov though. Might get hubbie to put them in bags in the loft.

Right off to post before they shut down the forums.
  • I'm pleased to report that i've had NSD's for the last 2 days :T this morning I was running late and unlike usual I made myself make a quick sandwhich to take to work so am very pleased with myself:rotfl:

Today I also had a rethink of my monthly budget, I have a car service coming up in April and car tax in Jan, also at the time of the service the cambelt is going to be changed, so I deceided to work out a rough cost, £90 tax £400 MOT/service/cambelt (hopefully £400 is way too much!) divide it by the months left and save for it now, so I need to up my monthly savings for car to £60 a month. I also realised one of my monthly trfs to an account for ds' pre-school fund can stop as he's free from Sept onwards. I'm going to sit down at some point soon and work out if I need to save £50 for holidays and £40 for bdays/christmas or whether they can be changed. I have already bought some of ds' christmas present and am planning on making dd things from bits I already have so am hoping to have a cheaper christmas. Not that we spend loads, but instead of buying that dvd I think ds would like i'll suggest it for others.

I'm starting to enjoy this MSE lark, a NSD is a real buzz:D I also thought I was pretty good a keeping an eye on costs but I know there's more to be done, especially with the food bill. I must go and get an address book Asap and start being anal about where to buy things:D Needs must eh!?

    Hi Primrose
Hope you don't mind me having a nosey at your diary?
I've recently started mine and am picking up tips from all over the place.
Good luck with the ebaying - I've started doing this too - every little helps I guess!

Of course not, glad to know someone's reading:j I've got loads of toys ready to ebay but I want to wait til Nov to hopefully get the most out of them. Can't wait til sunday to see how much I get for the bits I listed last week. I'm going to try and get my 10 things listed again this sun. Might be tricker as I have friends coming for a BBQ, if not I'll do them on mon or tues
  • I am so pleased with myself this morning. Last night it was getting late, we hadn't had dinner. Hubbie suggested a chinese and I couldn't be bothered to argue, dispite the fact I had the ingredients ready to make a curry. As soon as i'd said yes something flickered and I instantly felt a pang of guilt and knew it wasn't right, we have no money til payday (well about £20 odd left in my purse) so I went and found hubbie and said i'd be happy to make the curry, normally i'd have sat bone idle on the sofa waiting for the delivery and been £20 lighter for the privilege. :j

So because we didn't buy the chinese I had another NSD:j

I've also been thinking alot about how things were when I was little. Alot of the things I do with my dd and ds my mum would never have done with me, my sis and my bro. I go to McDonalds at the drop of a hat, which isn't bad but if I don't have the money why am I spending £10ish on 2 happy meals and whatever I have?

I am starting to realise I have been an idiot. Although like many many other people on here I think my bad spending started with depression. Buying to make myself feel better, debt which made me feel worse. A never ending cycle:(

Thought I would drop by you seem to know why your spending and how your going to stop it thats all positve stuff. I found making small payments a few times a week really encouraging as I could see the debt go down quite quickly plus it saved interest. Leave all cards at home and only use cash that was a real eye opener (mental note to do this again) It stopped me going for a pint of milk at Mr T and it costing me £15.
Hows ebay sales going ? I have a few watchers already.
I have subscribed but I must warn you I tend to drag people into silly challenges, pop over and read REDMADCURLS diary once challenged her to list 100 items on ebay in a weekend and I dont think I have been forgiven yet :D We did make quite a bit of cash though.
Good luck im sure you will beat this quite quickly just keep reading there is vast amount of knowledge on here and its all free.

    Have a great day
