Interesting post. In May 2011 I bought 2 mobile phones for my children via Intomobilephones on a cash back deal. This required 5 cahsbacks on each phone, £71 each time, over the 18 month contract. The first 2 cashbacks were received via cheque, albeit not exactly prompt. The latest cashback I claimed for at the end of April 2012. I got the usual e-mail replies confiming receipt of the claims....then nothing.....i did get a response to one chasing mail promising a cheque but still nothing. So I currently have £142 outstanding, with a further £142 I am about to clazim for the 4th cash back claim and then there will be a final claim of £142 at the end of October 2012 - so I have a total at risk amount of £426....and as it stands right now, i can see my chances of getting any of that back declining rapdily.

I haven noted that previous discussions by others with Trading Standards have been a waste of time...so is this route not even worth taking? Aside from this, any advice on what actions or avenues are open to me here would be very much welcomed.

    Many thanks
    Ian

Hi Ian, any progress with Intomobilephones? I have had no response to a court order (posted on another thread).

    Thanks

    Ian
  • Well I am quite shocked to report that over the last 2 or 3 weeks i have received directly into my bank account the 3rd and 4th cash back claims for both my phones. :j:T

I had noted the fact that on their website they had a message about problems they had been having but that they were hoping they would be resolved by (I think) 8 August. the after submitting my 4th cash back claims (in vain hope of getting them) i got an e-mail from them saying apologies but my 3rd cash back claims would be paid directly soon....and they were...and this weekend I got my others...and now only 1 more to go as the contract ends!

another odd thing is that my first cash back claims were via cheques from Shebang (parent company) but now they have reverted to direct transfers into my bank account. Not sure why but I guess I cannot complain!!

so there is life there (and seemingly money) so stick with it and see what happens...maybe try dropping them another e-mail to see if you get a response via the normal route!

All I can say at this stage is good luck, but do update us with your progress (or not).

    Cheers

    Ian
  • Well, I've also been hit by these scam merchants. My credit card company told me that they have a potential fraud flag on the merchant account and are investigating. Needless to say they (the CC) also gave me an immediate charge-back "refund" as I'd also been charged twice for the same order
  • I'm not getting anywhere with my cashback claims. They don't answer emails (they've finally emptied their inbox so messages aren't boucning back however) and the customer care phone number now has an abrupt BT 'hang up' message when you call it suggesting they've not paid the subscription to use that 0871 service.

The company number displayed on their website is actually for SHEBANG FIRE AND SECURITY LIMITED which has missed the deadline for filing accounts or an annual return this year. It has also recently filed documents to change its registered offices.

The VAT number on the website is for INTO MOBILE PHONES LTD which is still trading (Company No. 07008114) but has also failed to file accounts or returns.

Funnily enough the sales line is still working (although not being answered) and they are still offering cashback redemptions on their website. Wish there was some way of shutting this outfit down.

Useful update, thanks for that. I thought it was just me as I have been trying to get some response out of these cowboys even doing a court order...but zero response! I
  • I think the signs are they're about to let these companies be wound up even if they're still taking orders. Not filing accounts and returns will trigger Companies House to dissolve both organisations and give them a slap across the wrists. There were changes to directorships a few months ago so that will leave those characters free to start up another outfit without being flagged as rogue directors.
  • Looks like A1 Comms bought 'Shebang' (the company behind that shower of sh*t intomobilephones) as I got a payment for my outstanding cashback today. I'm going to call them and check if I can submit the rest of my claims direct to them. Good result at last. Well chuffed.

A1 Comms are now settling all cash back claims. Outstanding and future claims should be submitted to care@intomobilephones.co.uk but payment will come from A1

Hi am mark from portsmouth i found this company intomobilephones from googling bad credit mobile phones.

then found out when too late it was owned by shebang.net and all the websites are designed by a guy called stuart who when i rung up said his web designs were in accordance with th uk laws so i said to him really?, so when do companies advertise for phones and not send a phone?, he replies contact customer support.

so at this point i thinking i wind this guy up some more because he deserves it.

so i says to him so when you designed the websites that when you order from your pages it dont say that you take money even tho the button and form was for a credit check only?, he replies it clearly states that it a sim only to start with i said no way mate it clearly stated no money taken it was to check my credit.

anyways we argued too and fro for ages till i said i was going to local ombudsman to report his sites and the company he works for and hung up.

am really amazed how this once proud country has become the target of so many internet scammers, there should be urgent government legislation brought in to stop these types of companies even starting up.
