ive got a compaq with hinge issues just within the warranty period !! what is this known problem pls ?
have phoned compaq and they told me to go to pc world which is what i was trying to avoid !!
The 'known problem' with some models of Presarios, is symptoms as described by OP. 'Things happening' but nothing on-screen. Problem created by fan not operating when it should, causing graphics circuitry on motherboard overheating, resulting in screen appearing to be dead. HP are/were (for free) replacing mobo and modifying bios to enable fan to operate effectively.
