(But why post in such an authoritave manner, ("you cant take an additional insurance policy"), when you are seemingly just guessing?)
My authoritive manner was addressing the insurance policy the OP was "wanting" to take out and therefore not guess work. It also emphasises the OP should not be looking at a full policy with a view to canceling as it really could leave him uninsured
Given the additonal information on short term policies it could perhaps be now elaborated on but im sure the OP can peice it together.
Interestingly you mention Aviva yet in other posts have critisised Aviva and suggested them not being there whan needed....0 -

Why is it interesting? I didn't recommend anyone. I "mentioned" them for your benefit - as a mainstream insurer advertising the very product you were telling the OP he couldn't get!
Aviva do have a poor reputation for customer service. Plenty of evidence on MSE and across the net.
