Car Insurance Canceling after first 2 weeks?

I have just come back from Denmark to visit my family and spend some time over here visiting people and places before going back to study in Denmark in the next 2 weeks.
I am wanting to get insured on my sisters car during my time here as it will in the long run work out cheaper than renting one.
I have a insurance policy for a week when driving a friends car 2 years ago with Nationwide and then canceling it within 14 days without having to pay anything for the policy due to this short period. Now it seems that couple companies are charging £40 admin free for canceling it now.
Does anyone know of any company that doesn't charge or charge a very small fee for canceling as i would like a policy for no longer than 14 days.
Many thanks in advance, Quidco, cashback or points will be fantastic too!
I have been driving for over 6 years now and no points or insurance claims.

I think you will find this loophole is closed now, and companies charge a cancellation fee.0

See how much your sister's insurer will charge for adding you as a temporary named driver.
(Your quidco idea would fail as the insurer would reject your cashback when you cancelled the policy)0 -
First question is you sister currently insuring her car if so the ony option you have and probably the most viable anyway is to be put on her insurance as a tempory additional driver.
If she isnt insuring at the moment then there are short term insurance policies but they are not necessarily cheap and make sure you are up front about the owner and registered keeper of the car.0 -
Ok, well i guess i will have to pay an admin fee but any that are very low? I found them around £40 at the moment. She has 3 people insured on her car at the moment and can not put anymore people on the insurance policy!
Don't want to do short term rental as it works out something silly like £25/35 a day!!!! When i can rent a car locally for £20 a day!No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

Most off the peg policies don't allow you to buy a policy unless you are at least one (or both) of: the owner or registered keeper of the car.
So make sure you are eligible to insure your sister's car via your own policy (as should you need to claim/get a claim against you, it will get rejected if you have "lied" about having an insurable interest in the car)0 -
If your sister is currently insuring the car you cant take an additional insurance policy on it0

Have you tried

I have looked at this for a test ride before and I definitely did not have to be the owner.0 -

This is incorrect advice.
There are a number of policies available for this situation, where the car has a current policy in place.
eg: aviva short term insurance/tempcover/aa short term car insurance etc etc0 -

New one on me thanks..
However OP has suggested he doesnt want short term insurance and that he wishes to eat up an admin fee on a standard insurance policy which he wont get as the vehicle is already insured so my advice wasnt all that incorrect and still relevant0 -

No problem.
(But why post in such an authoritave manner, ("you cant take an additional insurance policy"), when you are seemingly just guessing?)0
