Orange Charging me an extra tenner to use sim in iPhone?

Hi,

Firstly I'd like to apologise if this is an offensively stupid question but I am VERY new to the iPhone and its capabilities.

I have been on Orange for around 5 years. In December, I was due an upgrade and got a Blackberry at £15 a month with a £5 BB bundle for unlimited internet and BB emails/BBM usage.

I have just bought the iPhone 4 (outright from the Orange website) - today I requested for a PAC code or to transfer my current contracted agreement on to the micro-sim card for iPhone. The advisor told me that my plan would change to £25 a month for using the sim card in an iPhone???

I don't want the unlimited internet bundle - I have wi-fi connection for that stuff. Are they allowed to charge me for a bundle??

Alright mate, I've been searching high and low through these forums to find somebody who's in this position of having to pay an extra £10/month simply because they want a microsim in an iPhone...what did you manage to do in the end? I've heard from a couple of people that if you just constantly haggle with Orange they will eventually just provide you with the microsim and you won't have to pay the £10/month...but I haven't managed to do so yet. I still don't see how already having 500MB internet and paying just under £500 for a phone still gives orange the right to charge me an extra £10/month...
  • Can you not just cut your standard SIM to fit? The chip is the same.

I wish it was that easy! I dunno about the other networks but orange don't like to make things as easy as that. I could cut the sim...but I'd be restricted in terms of what I can do on the iPhone apparently...it was never an issue with the 3GS but all of a sudden it is with the iPhone 4...last thing I wanna do is to pay £500 on a phone only to find out that I can't even use it properly!
  • Sorry I forgot to add...i had a Samsung Galaxy S on contract and sold it thinking that I was gonna be better off buying an iPhone on PAYG and transferring my contract over.....I would've been better off 99% of the time...but never thought it'd be this much hassle!
  • Sorry I didn't reply to this as I checked back a few times and found no reply.

I have just simply gone ahead and paid the extra £10 a month to Orange. It is scandalous. Consider I'd pay £500 quid for the phone upfront in order to escape monthly costs and they're still charging me :(
  • give it a couple of weeks, call back, and ask them to remove the bundle if you arent going to use it..

it doesnt form any contract, there isnt a minimum term on the bundle, and they wont expect the microsim back.

you should have told orange to stick it and jumped accross to the same company to tmobile on their £7.50 600mins, 500text, free internet, free landline or unlimited text, and just choped the sim down to size.

also I am 100% certain that there are zero problems with using the old sim in an iphone, how could there be?, also the unlocked iphone is only £10 more than PAYG from orange.
