You may want to consider swapping the engine out for a more recent 2.0L 16v, plenty of these conversions have been done with great effect
Otherwise, you may have to start fabricating/modifying parts to fit.
Something like a headgasket is very simple to "cut to size".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You can still buy headsets why would you cut one to size?0

^^ I know
You can still get gasket sets for the old Ford Kent/x-flow engines (circa 1960's/1970's)“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Just to confirm spacer approx 12mm thick between sump and block also engine code is actually D6B and not what I originally posted.
Looks like it is a 1.9 then.
Should the ecu have been swapped at same time or are they both the same?0 -
Yup, thats the 1.9 spacer.
The ECU, injectors & dizzy should all be changed. There is a serial number on the ECU which will confirm what it belongs to. A 1.9 will run on 1.6 management if it's also got the dizzy & injectors, as you have the yellow injectors you should have the 1.9 ECU.0 -

thanks for the reply i will have to check the bosch number on ecu to try and find out what is fitted.
i am hoping the dizzy was already fitted to the 1.9 when it went in but will see if i can find some numbers on it to confirm.0 -

B6A Sounds like the 1.6 105bhp XU5.
the 1.6 is more revvy than the 1.9 and as keith says shorter ratios.
but the higher torque of 1.9 coupled to the short ratio 1.6 box is supposed to be a good combination, this is what mine is so when done i will find out;)0 -
it would seem the clown that swapped engine left in the 1.6 ecu bosch number 0280000340 when it should be 0280000359.0

I'm sure I have a 1.9 ECU or two in the loft, pm me and you can have it for postage.
From your newbie post on drivers if I'm guessing correctly, I also have a perfect carpet if you fancy a trip up to Luton0 -
