Mobiles.co.uk cashback dependent on use of provided handset?
I've recently taken out a cashback offer with mobiles.co.uk. I was more interested in the deal than the phone, so the phone is of no use to me and I'd like to sell it. I've just seen the conditions of cashback on the mobiles.co.uk website:
Cashback will not be paid if:
If you do not remain on the original tariff with the original handset and number (or ported).
Can/do they check if the upgrade phone they supplied me with is in use with the sim card they provided?
Thanks.

As you have probably read on the many threads as how they use every trick in the book NOT to pay you cashback, I wouldn't be surprised to find they would use that one.
I suppose it's down to how much you stand to lose and how much you need it as to whether to take the risk
It's not just about the money0 -

You have broken the first rule of the cashback game.
(You should have read the conditions before you accepted them!)
They don't stick in all the hoop jumping conditions in to their ts + cs without a good reason.
If you break any of the cashback terms you make life so easy for the opposition to win.0 -
Mobiles.co.uk probably can't tell, although the network can as the IMEI number would be different for when you use the service. Whether the network passes this info on or not i do not know.
But as above, Mobiles.co.uk is one of the worst sites. You need to stick closely to the terms of risk losing it all.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

Can anyone confirm if this information would be passed on from the network to Mobiles.co.uk? Surely that would be a breach of data protection? And if they did routinely pass information back (beyond disconnections etc that affect the commissions), then they wouldn't need to ask us to send in our bills to claim
(only joking, of course the premise of the deal is that we will forget to send the bill or not jump through some other hoop they have set).

If you want to be sure of getting your cashback, don't break the game rules! It would be no good quoting an answer from this thread as your evidence if you found they had invoked the clause as their reason for stopping your cashback.0
