Ryanair

:T
Well, its got to be said, well done ryanair! Flew ryanair to fuerteventura 29/07,for the first time, and i couldnt have asked for things to go any better! All the staff were helpful and friendly, the flight was efficient, nothing went wrong. After all the promises of rip offs scams hidden charges etc lol! So glad i took the advice of all you mse/ryanair supporters, did everything the right way, and had a cheap, pleasant flight that did what it was meant to do!
Quite shocked i didnt get my bags checked at all though inbound or outbound, neither weight size or liquids?
I know someone will probably say this should be in praise vent and warnings sorry just want to share my happiness :D
Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p

It's nice when people can be bothered to say nothing went wrong.

    Well said to both!

:rotfl:Oh no now more people will be booking up all the cheap flights when they find out how good Ryanair are - flown with them dozens of times over last 3 years and never had a problem - looking forward to my next flight with Ryanair in early November but not so sure about flights with Easyjet in October (but you never know I may be back on here saying they're just as good as Ryanair LOL). So glad you had a positive experience - you'll be like the rest of us soon and addicted to booking cheap flights :rotfl:

Much the same bezzza - I prefer ryanair, having had bad experiences with easyjet & bmibaby.

Glad yours went well, OP! Mine too. I think it was a little less busy this year, but I have no complaints about Ryanair this time either. Coming home, the Number 1 attendant did forget to come back with my coffee and there was a slightly disbelieving glance when I told one of the other attendants, but it arrived soon after and I was asked if I had already been given my change which was nice (I had).

When I went through Stansted, I thought it was considerably less busy than the 2009 Summer Getaway, and at the other end it was more so. Happily noted that Tessa Jowell and her old man flew out on the flight I flew back on ... so if it's good enough for ex ministers and their ex ex's I suppose Ryanair are now it :p

Anyway, thanks Ryanair for £123 per person return including a bag each and priority boarding on a peak summer flight. Just the ticket :money:

That's ten years since my first flight with them ... plenty of ups and downs ;)

Keep it up I say :D
  • Credit where its due. We did fly from bournemouth which was tiny and very quiet, but the plane was still fully booked. On the way home i suffered quite bad with headaches from the pressure and when a steward spotted me he asked if i was ok and brought me some cold water (free!) :D
Some people on here really do give the impression that ryanair staffed are briefed at interview that us customers are scum and should be treated like scum, i had expected frosty, snotty staff and substandard service but got the complete opposite! Okay so its not air force one but what dont you get on a ryanair flight? Neck ache from straining to watch a rubbish film with headphones you have to pay for? Rubber food for bistro prices? Seats that recline half an inch? At least those are the only differences i can think of, and thats coming from flying probably thomascook about 10 years ago!
So yes, ryanair have got me hooked, i just wish they would hurry up with next years routes so i can book up!:j

I have not flown with them, but have used Jet2 and Easyjet once each and did not have any problems.

Are there any "do's" and "don'ts" when booking and flying with Ryanair?

Any suggestions of things to do and watch out for would be appreciated.

    ...any "do's" and "dont's"
    Hell yes :rotfl:

If you have never booked before with Ryanair, then to save yourself £5 per person per flight you will need a Mastercard Prepaid card before you book. You can find various suggestions for which is the best in the forum.

Then it is probably best to tell us what route you might use as your first Ryanair flight, because some of the things you need to know are perhaps best linked to the airports in question and told by people familiar with the route.

And of course, the baggage question ... do you think you can get by with a single 10kg bag in the cabin to save incurring hold baggage charges?

    1. READ WHAT IT SAYS ON THE SCREEN
    2. Take hand luggage only and stick to the size and weight limits.
    3. Use a pre-paid mastercard.
    4 Travel mid-week if possible.
    5. Book a couple of months in advance - NEVER AT THE LAST MINUTE.
    6. Take your own food. No hot drinks or alcohol.
    7. CHECK-IN ONLINE
    8. Arrive at the airport early.
    9. If you don't want their Insurance select NO INSURANCE REQUIRED
    10. Look out for the 'headline deals' Travel for a fiver means just that if you follow the advice above.
    11. Go to Airport, get on big blue and yellow thing, have a good trip.

Lots of flights for a few quid (or Euro's) all in if you can be flexible.

Oh and No. 12 - See number 1 above again ALWAYS READ WHAT IT SAYS ON THE SCREEN

flew to Dublin last month and they were great, even cocked the booking up by using a shortened first name rather than my full first name on my passport and they changed it for free
