Nothing classy about a lot of Hiltons these days but the name still rings the tune of luxury and trustworthyness to many.

duh-give me a break-i have been on holiday for 2 weeks and need time to adjust back to MSE time.
  • LOL they only ever visited belfast once, hired a unit out for a couple of days and on the first day sold a load of crap/hooky gear to the wife of one of our local terrorist type ringleaders. The next day he paid them a visit and asked for a refund, the auction heavies suggested he left before they threw him out. They didn't notice the 2 transit vans parked out side with a dozen of his cronies waiting.....
The police escorted them to the local ferry for their own safety after their stock got trashed, cars/vans were trashed and they got kicked up and down belfast city centre.

  • Just to let you know that these people were at the NOVOTEL hotel in Worsley, Manchester tonight. I attended after receiving the advertisement on Friday thinking I could get a bargain or two but left after nearly 2 hours when they wanted £400 from my credit card. I was nearly buying a pan set, microwave (which I don't need), food processor (which I don't need) and coffee maker (which I don't need) for £400 all because I liked the pans!!! As I came to my senses and hesitated to put my pin number in I thought "What am I doing? £400?? I don't even have £400 spare???" They obviously sensed my hesitation and gave me my card back quickly before I could alarm others. I left immediately thinking what a close call I had just had.

They had one "lot" of goods worth a good few hundred pounds which they kept promising someone would get (nobody did while I was there), then they had 4 "lots" which anyone could buy (Lot 1 was a philips recordable dvd, philips digital phone and answerphone, hi-fi system (unbranded) and mp4 player (looked like ipod but was unbranded): Lot 2 was my pans, etc: Lot 3 was a pair of his and hers watches (worth £1,600 - yeah right) and lot 4 was 15" LCD TV (unbranded), digital phone and a couple of other thing I can't remember) I think you will agree that none of these "lots" would be worth £400. They kept showing plasma & LCD tvs, laptops, psp's and mobiles, etc but none were sold/auctioned while I was there.

They are very clever con-artists who prey on people who are after a bargain. They use alot of psychology (sp?) to make you think you would be stupid not to buy one of their packages and if you don't act quickly you will miss out on one of the big items maybe being thrown in for free or at a silly price (won't happen).

Thank god I got out without being conned (only just) but obviously alot of people have been. I know there's nothing that can be done after the event but it didn't even occur to me that it could be a con until I got out (hence finding this post retrospectively). I definitely won't be attending their next "STOCK CLEARANCE SALE"

I hope this post will help to convince others not to attend these events in future.
