If there is a single scratch or defect on it on it, send it back.
You are not talking about battered and scratched old piece of equipment.
It should be as new.
You still have a full 12 month warranty and can use the spare cash to up the RAM to 2GB and maybe get a six cell battery.

WIndows 7 starter is ok for netbooks, I have a N140 with it on and it is fine, I have also installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix along side W7. If I want a quick tour of the net the Ubuntu loads much faster than W7 but I still use W7 for main use.

No, that is only for XP Service Pack 2.
