Not having a limescale problem, good water up here, I don't really understand the problems but I soak a plug of kitchen towel in bleach or soda crystals and leave it in the plug hole to bring it up shiney0

I take it that the chrome finish has corroded away and that it's the brass (with greeny blue stuff on it?) that is corroded.
Neat vinegar will clear the corrosion - but nothing will get your chrome finish back.
NOTE:- If your taps are a "gold coloured" finish - DO NOT use vinegar - they really don't like it and you can ruin them.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. My taps are chrome finish and they do have that lovely greeny black stuff on the end of them. I am selling up soon so want them at least looking decent. Do I have to put the vinegar in a plastic bag and tie it around the taps and leave overnight? I vaguely remember something like that on Kim and Aggie.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Yep.
Or use an old bottle cap and tie it up in place, or use a rubber band to keep it there (BUT then don't fill it 'til it's safe in place otherwise you'll catapult vinegar all over the place, and yes, I've done that]) or wrap it with kitchen towel and soak it well and keep it wet.
