  • Think bleach does it - I mean it destroys the chrome.
  • Does anyone have any great tips for cleaning a sink plug hole? Ours is very old and a sad shade of brown (mixed in with some blue I think from all the chemicals!)

    Thanks :-) !

Use bleach and a longish pipe brush.

Caustic soda down the pipe. Plug in, supermarket budget cola (sub 40 pence for 2 litres, & not the diet stuff) glugged in & left overnight.
Review the scene in the morning.

citric acid is best for getting of limescale etc - leave crystals on there for several hours and then scrub well. Can take a few applications if there's a thick layer to get rid of.

I put in a wodge of cotton wool and pour over white vinegar, leave overnight and scrub in the morning. Works well.
