Wifi internet in London?

Hi all,

I might need to stay for around a month or so with an acquaintance in Central London and I need to subscribe to a Wifi Internet service for my laptop that is at least 1 Mbps (or possibly faster) for the whole period. I don't plan to use it outside Central London, so having wide coverage shouldn't be an issue. What would the users on this forum recommend in terms of reliability of service and cost?

Get a sim only deal with 3 mobile broaband.

Unless your laptop has wifi, and you want to fill yourself with McDonalds grub, or you know a local pub that has free wifi, then you either have that or go for a payg mobile broadband

The WiFi is free to use once you have registered your Starbucks card.
The card has to be loaded with some cash but this is for buying coffee not the WiFi.

At the prices Starbucks charge for coffee it would be cheaper to just pay for the WiFi.

Anyway I strongly suspect that the OP really meant 3G plus he hasn't bothered to respond to any of the suggestions so this one looks like it should have run its course no doubt to be opened in a years time by some idiot suggesting another provider of free wifi.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delayed response.

Judging from some of the responses I guess I should've made my requirements more clear... I wasn't looking for free but fettered access to a cafe/restaurant/what-have-you; what I had in mind was a pay-monthly no contract (or pay-as-you-go) type wireless Internet access available reliably from anywhere 24 hours a day (I only mentioned Central London to indicate that I didn't care if the coverage wasn't good in rural areas or something); I guess I was also a bit careless with the word "Wifi", as one of the posters rightly guessed, I should've said 3G.

Anyway, thanks again for all the responses. It looks like I might not be staying over in London after all, but anyway I've looked at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-mobile-broadband now and (in addition to the suggestions of some of the posters) the PAYG section seems to be what I should look into.
