Question - 3 network on PAYG - 3 phones

before i take the plunge and get these 3 phones unlocked i want to check this regarding the 3 network on PAYG.

if i get 3 new sims on the THREE network and top each up with £10 online with a credit card should i then have £10 credit on each phone and 600 free texts and the 3 phones can phone each other free of charge ? The free texts will last 90 days.

just trying to get the cheapest way for my 2 kids to stay in touch with their mum as using their current network they top up £5 and it does not last long.

Obviously the 3 phones you are going to unlock have to be 3G phones.

You can top up for £5 and you still have free 3 to 3 calls for 90 days.

You get all this free stuff every time you top-up:
    • A bundle of free texts that get bigger the more you top-up
    • A generous free mobile internet allowance
    • Free call to anyone on Three
Your free stuff will last 90 days, even when you've run out of credit.

If you don't want to top up at all, you still get free skype calls.

hi thanks for the reply, why do the phones have to be on 3g, the 2 i have so far are GSM i think.

    the samsung c3050 http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk/mobile-phones/samsung-c3050-specification

    the nokia 2220s http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/product-support/2220-slide/specifications

the deal sounds good if my phones are compatable. would likely do the £10 top up to get the 600 free texts.

Because the 3 in Three is 3G. Three offer roaming onto Orange as 2G but only when you are out of a Three coverage area as it costs them money. If you use a none 3G phone and the two you quote are 2G only, Three will quickly spot this and firstly warn you and then if you ignore it cut you off.

hmm so there wont be much to lose by trying it and see how it goes, at the worst the phones would lose whatever credit was on them.
  • I dont think the previous poster was clear.
Three sims only work in 3g phones, so if your phones unlocked or not are not 3g the sims will not work in them.

A good point about 3 phones is that you can check to see if the handset model you want to buy is Skype compatible. I think most, if not all of the current 3 models are. You then download Skype to the phone and you can call other people who also have Skype on their 3 phones for free, and it lasts forever I think and does not require a top-up. Therefore, your inter-familly calls would be free of charge.

that sounds good but its not practical to upgrade the phones right now, would you not need to have credit in order to use the internet or whatever is needed for skype to work ?
