I've had my orange contract for 6mths, will they consider reducing the monthly cost?

ATM I pay £35 for an ipone 3G, unlimited texts and 250 minutes, and pay £12 insurance per month for it too. My sister has an iphone 4 and pays less than me, and gets unlimited texts too (which is really all I use)

Is it worth calling them and asking? Or pointless?

This is the 3rd year I've had an orange phone, but think it's expensive for what I'm getting.

I think you have to be 1/2 way through your contract to change to a cheaper plan, that's what Orange told me when I recently took out a contract with them. It's worth ringing up to ask though, you might be able to get cheaper insurance elsewhere also, see http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cheap-mobile-phone-insurance

Contracts change all the time, so I don't think they're likely to let you change. Otherwise every Tom !!!!!! & Harry would ring up and say "But so & so's got it cheaper than me." If you're on an 18 month contract, i don't think you can 'downsize' until at least 12 months. Even then, you won't get more minutes / texts than your current deal, even if someone else has a better tariff than you.

I can't see how she pays less than you unless she either doesnt have insurance or she paid alot more upfront for the handset
