Roof coating is " snake oil " sold by con men/women to the gullible.
So it is you that is talking twaddle, or worse.[/QU
look! you obviously have your own opinions on the matter.. you are right there are a lot of co's out there selling a product that is overpriced and poorly fitted..it doesnt mean to say that every roofer who supplies this service is the same..some of us roofers actually take pride in our work and are profesional roofers not just amature roof coaters. 99% of my roofcoatings cost less than £800.. thats not a basd deal to get your roof fully serveyed a free full detailed roof report and a ten year guarantee.. im new on here but when i can post pictures i will. then you will see the difference in quality from a profesional job to a cowboy mess.0 -
Ignore the vested interest's posting in here.
If you have moss on a roof, you will always have it. If you clean it off, it will come back. Unless its blocking gulleys then just ignore it, keep the gutters clean and don't worry about it.0 -
Just had the gutters cleaned yesterday.took out adustbinful.Still making up our mind what to do.I am inclined to heed the advice our surveyor. If you don't leap, you'll never know what it is to fly :heartpuls0

Surveyor? I thought you said it was a House Buyers Report?

This year we had someone scrape the moss off by hand using roof ladders to access the roof. It took them a couple of days.......... And what happens when you cut the grass?????? It grows back. Scrape it and you don't get rid of the roots. Ikkle be back. PS www.aquashieldroofcoating.co.uk interesting turn around.????:D0 -
Once the moss is killed off it should just fall off (need to keep a regular check on your gutters though). Try applying Jeyes Fluid or Armillatox outdoor cleaners with an ordinary garden sprayer.0

i know one thing ..it can hold water ..and when it freezes this may do damage
i like the idea of the copper ..seems plausible ...wonder if a copper pipe each side of the apex will do any good ..once the copper corrodes the resulting run off, will coat the roof and maybe do the job ..so you could maybe put a 10mm mini bore pipe up there with crude plates that took under the tiles to hold it.
btw ..you can get copper paint or antifoul paints that are used on boats ..it costs about £25 a gallon.
all the best.markj0 -
On the Aquashield website - "View Your Roof
Using our instant viewing tool you can inspect your roof up close and safely for FREE, be one of the thousands to have already done so."
After filling in all the details to have a look at my roof close up, I find it is just what I would see on Google Maps.:o

You can get copper tape which is self adhesive see it in B&Q. I was thinking of getting some and stick it to the lead flashing and the run off would I hope kill any moss over time0
