Thanks for the information and advice :). I booked through the railway station so didnt have the option of choosing my seats but I know that I am in 50A and then 52A. Sadly cross country dont do a seating plan for their journeys so I am unable to check where exactly I will be sitting.

That's not the right seating plan. See my post earlier, where I showed a screenshot showing the stage at which you can see the seating plan on the XC website.

Unfortunately when i've tried to book through the XC website as you suggested it doesnt give me the option to book an individual seat but the drop down menu i.e seat type, window, aisle or table etc but thanks for the help and advice.

Thanks mate though I will be travelling on Cross Country trains so i'm not sure if the seating plans will be the same. I'm rather annoyed at the staff at my local railway station, when I booked the tickets they told me that I would have to change trains at Birmingham New Street but it now appears that the 13.07 service from Edinburgh goes directly to Plymouth so I needn't of changed at all, just booked different seats in the same train but oh well lol
