I am raging at Homebase right now too!

I ordered some laminate flooring on-line last week. It was in the sale - reduced from £42 a pack to £32 and then a further 25% off! So I bought 10 packs...plus the underlay and all the extras. Obviously, I would have preferred to have gone to the store itself, and actually see it first, but reading the reviews and judging by the photo it looked just what I wanted. And I am unable to get to any of the stores as of knee problems, and I have no transport. When it was delivered I found the colour is a lot lighter than it appeared in the photo. The problem is it does not match my existing woodwork (which has been recently re-done in a warmer, reddish oak). I telephoned 'Homebase' today and kindly explained this problem, and asked if I could please have a refund, only to be told I couldn't as it is excluded from the 30 day money-back guarantee. I did read this prior to ordering but presumed this meant if the flooring was unwrapped and laid; and I then changed my mind, not if it is still sealed and not laid.

I am so disappointed as I haven't a lot of money, and work hard for what I do have, being on part-time hours now due to my on-going knee problems. And it has taken me over 8 months to save for this flooring. I now have to either try to save and afford to get the whole hallway and lounge wood-work re-done, or just have wasted £252.39 on flooring I cannot use.

I find this very unfair as it is still sealed (apart from one pack, which was not packaged well when delivered, and as I picked it up, the film wrap split). This was not my fault and I read a review that mentioned the couriers are not the most careful!

I spent hours on-line looking for flooring and weighing up what I could afford; and have been looking forward to getting the floors done for months, and now it is all wasted. I have spent a lot of money at Homebase over time, and had the choice of other companies with good offers on laminate, but chose Homebase as I always had faith in their customer service, until now.

I have just emailed the MD too, and am awaiting a reply.....no doubt it will still be a "No!". In which case, I will never give them my custom again and warn others!

When was the flooring delivered? You have 7 working days from delivery to inspect the goods and if they are not what was expected or require you can reject them under DSR (distance selling regulations) for a full refund. You must inform them you are rejecting under DSR though not change of mind policies or SOGA.

Emmie73, time to read about Distance Selling Regulations.

Some info in MSE's Consumer Rights guide, or for more detail look at the OFT's Guide to the DSRs.
