disconnection charge added 3 years later

i was with 3 g mobile on a contract which was terminated in 2006. they decided to add a disconnection charge in 2009. is this legal. there must be a time limit in which they can do this. i am trying to fight it out but looks like i am going to be taken to court even though i can prove that they added it 3 years later help anyone!!

    They have 6 years to take it Im afraid. Not what you want to hear but thats the law.

    They have 6 years to enforce a debt via the courts.

    But it maybe different in your case, as no debt existed, its not that you had not paid, its just they have now added on a bill.

    Have they explained there actions to why it has taken them 3 years before adding on this charge. Any minimum term would have been served by now and if the account is actually closed down I do not see how any further charges can be added. Charges need to be added before an account is closed.
    Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

    I had a similar thing happen to me i was with 3 back in 2004 for 6 weeks and couldnt get a signal anywhere and the phone was faulty then december last year i got a phone call from a debt collection agency luckily i am a bit anal about keeping things and had print outs of emails sent from managers at 3 saying my contract would be waived with no further charge once i passed this onto debt collectors i never heard anything again

    I dont think it will be any different for you.

    Often on here people have done a shop from online tesco etc and they havent taken the money out for weeks and then suddenly off it goes. 6 years for that too.

    So yes, it is definitely 6 years.

    As others have said, if the charge was due, but not billed then they can charge it. Did you know at the time that you left them that you were laible to pay the fee?
  • when you closed the account what paperwork did you recieve?
