First Plus

Has anyone had any dealings with this company? We got a secured loan from them for £25,000 4 years ago with payments of £217 a month, we have never had any communication from them whatsoever and have no idea what we now owe, we have never had a statement or anything, not even once, and theur website seems to indicate that they are no longer existing as first plus. We would like a statement at the very least, and would like to know if we can borrow any more. UNlikely, as I am on a DMP and can get no credit anywhere, not even a catalogue! If anyone has any experience of dealing with First PLus I would be grateful for any feedback, many thanks :o

All I can say is, when you get your statement, please sit down before you open the envelope, here are a few horror stories relating to this company.

If you search this Forum you will find a lot more of these stories. Contact your bank for your standing order details, from this information they may be able to give you a number you can call.

Good luck, you are going to need it!

here's another thread. because you have not been receiving any correspondence from them, you might not be aware that they have been increasing the interest rate over the pass 4 years. to your knowledge have your monthly payments amount increased over the years?

You really need to find your paperwork urgently and take it to the CAB. Did you not include this loan in your DMP?

if you are on a DMP to help you with your money problems why on earth would you be wanting to find out if you can borrow more?

i dont think you should automatically assume there to be a problem, if you have your agreement and pay them monthly as per said agreement then the statement will show just that

  • My payments have not increased at all in the 4 years I dont think. I could not put it on the DMP as you can only put unsecured borrowing onto a DMP.

I am wanting to borrow around £3000 as I cannot afford to live at the moment, I havent paid my mortgage for 2 months and I cant even afford to buy food. I am thinking bankruptcy may be my only option now but I am frightened as to what would happen to my home - we have a joint mortgage and my partner has no adverse credit histopry apart from sharing a joint bank account and joint mortgage with me.

not being funny but what do you do when the 3 grand has run out? its only a couple of months living expenses and mortgage payments, 3 months at best

after that where will you turn?
  • Well I cant get 3 grand from anywhere anyway - I have looked everywhere - I cant even get a Vanquis card or anything. The 3 grand would bring me back up to date with the mortgage etc and then give me some room so I can get back on track.
