When my daughter was young we went to the Festival Park in Liverpool and played in the ball pond - we found loads of coins underneath!! Rich kids or crazy adults?0

I found... a hair grip.
I once bought a painting from an auction for £2.70 just to use the frame, took the tape and board off the back and found £200. Can't be bad!Bump due 22nd September0 -
Sadly there was nothing down the back of my sofa.
But with this thread in mind I've been keeping my eyes open and got £4 left in the coin slots in supermarket trolleys on my last couple of visits. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
Proud to be a chic shopper

When searching the sofa for coins, which we do occasionally, we will usually enlist the kids to help with the search. Any coins below £1 we allow them to keep, and being kids, they love the occasional small boost to their pocket money.
Of course, putting change into a small closable bag (like a plastic money bag used by banks for example), and keeping that in your pocket, means that loose change doesn't often get lost. I've never done this, but I have a thrifty friend who has always done this.0 -
In our local Asda their self checkout tills have have just recently been upgraded and now have scoops to pour your loose change into and it will automatically count it for you.
I've been finding out all my coins and using them in Asda - it's like having money off your shopping! Better than putting your coins through one of those machines and them taking a percentage out, plus it's so easy.0 -
I used to work in a large furniture store and every Saturday at close of the store we used to remove all the loose coins that had fallen out of people's pockets and go down the pub!:beer:Nothing is truly lost until your mum can't find it!0

I do occasionally find the odd 5p or 20p in the rubber seal on the washing machine, but as a household we're not reckless with money. Being the only female the cleaning/tidying somehow is my responsibility.. so I keep whatever they leave in their trouser pockets, it may amount to £1 tip a year big deal! I do keep £1 coins for shopping trolleys, the ash tray in my car (thankfully I no longer smoke) is one "safe" place and one hand bag with little pockets on the front; a round up of coins found I had £13 when really 1 in each place would cater for my shopping and bad memory!0
