This reminds me of a chat I had with an old farmer.
He told me of a time he was doing a house clearance and as part of the job he moved a large arm chair they checked down the sides to find a slim cigar case (the sort cafe creme come in) in side was some hundreds of pounds. They honestly retuned it it the owners daughter and declined a reward just taking the rest of the lose change found down the sides.
This was a few decades ago and the amount was New car level and was in effect doing what Martin advises against (hiding it under the bed)0 -
I have 3 sofas so thought I might be lucky - but sadly here is the list of findings:-
3p - woo hoo!
12 assorted pens/pencils/crayons/felt tips
1 plastic flute
various sweet wrappers
1 nintendo ds game (Bratz Ponyz)
1 nintendo ds stylus pen
2 hair bobbles
1 cute doggy earring
2 fluffy jelly beans (one half chewed)
3 bangles
1 plastic beetle
1 pair of safety scissors
6 nick trumps cards
3 unidentifiable sticky blobs
I am suitably embarassed and disgusted (and yes I washed my hands before I typed this) :rotfl:0 -

Nada! I hoover and clean under my sofa cushions everyday! And apart from that, DH empties all his loose change into his loose change pot. And I have emptied every purse, handbag, cardigan, trouser pockets, etc. Definitely no money hiding from us....0

PS Cash found so far - 87p0 -
I decided to bank the coins I've been putting in a small change pot at home for the last year.
I banked £64.50 and treated my girlfriend and I to a massage at a hotel spa
Also decided to clear out the spare room which still had boxes of "junk" from moving in last December (been very busy!). In one box I found an old gold ring which I've already been offered £50 for but am going to shop around and get the best price I can!0 -

LOL I agree, but with small DS in house, who sneaks his food onto sofa when not looking... need to hoover under cushions everyday.0 -

Perhaps it is the difference between how much is in the banks / current circulation and how much has gone out from the mints. I am not sure that there is that much in coins in daily circulation - mainly notes and cards these days - the change gets shoved in pockets and shops never seem to have much change....0 -
Good place is under the drop zone of any fast wheelie wizzie thing you find at fairgrounds - or as we did 3 weeks ago at the Sonisphere festival under the area where people turn upside down, fast, from a long arm attached to a motor from a very great height - apparently this is fun. Money rained down. we did offer to hand back but with several people on each ride who did it belong to - we waited but no takers. Except for the hat - that was returned to one happy owner.0
